Simpatica 33

To an outsider, Simpatica 33’s fourth-place finish in her first Grand Prix, The  $24,500- Del Mar Finale Prix in October, might have looked like an overnight sensation. But the 10-year-old mare’s story is anything but. In fact, her five-year journey to the Grand Prix ring has been a graduate course in horsemanship for veteran trainer Wendy Lee Thompson of Coastline Hunters & Jumpers.

Chicharito Blue

In mid-July, I was informed a former client horse had been sitting in a holding pen in Valley Center for two months. I was devastated to find out about Chicharito, and it was on my heart to go and get him, so I picked him up and brought him to Rancho Cielo with the plan to rehabilitate him and find him his person.

Support Our Mission

Your donations and sponsorship allow us to give more horses the time and care they need to heal and thrive, through the Power of Patience.

Our Approach

A lot of horses just need more time in order to perform to the best of their ability, but this is hard to come by in the equestrian sport, because it’s so expensive, and time is money.

Patience and empathy are at the heart of what we do, in order to take even the most mentally and physically fragile, complicated horses to successfully compete at the Grand Prix level of showjumping.

Our approach to equine rehabilitation looks holistically at the mental, emotional and physical blockages that are keeping our horses from feeling and performing at their best:

    • Understanding the psyche of the horse

    • Understanding the horse’s history

    • Dissecting behavioural issues based on the above

    • Addressing stress in the horse's mind and body

    • Familiarising ones self with past trauma

  • Assessing

    • Diet

    • Exercise

    • Supplementation

    • Physio Therapy

    • Laser Therapy

    • Tack, especially bits
